THE BATTLE OF VIMY RIDGE
In April 1917, Canada delivered an unprecedented victory at Vimy Ridge, with all four divisions of the Canadian Corps fighting together for the first time in the Great War. The Battle of Vimy Ridge was a defining moment for Canada and is often considered to be a significant event in the birth of Canada as an independent nation. 2017 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
We must always remember this remarkable moment in our history, not to glorify war but to honour the heroes who fought at Vimy Ridge.
Our goal is to provide an opportunity for young Albertans (ages 14 to 24) to reflect upon and develop the SPIRIT that allowed Canadians to secure such a pivotal victory at Vimy Ridge.
The SPIRIT of Vimy Ridge Social Media Contest is open to all residents of Alberta between 14–24 years of age.
Participants under 18 years of age require parental or legal guardian consent.
Submissions may be made on an individual basis only.
To be eligible for judging, submissions must be received by no later than March 6 2017.

Evaluation criteria will include how well each submission reflects the SPIRIT of Vimy Ridge (Sportsmanship, Perseverance, Integrity, Resiliency, Inspiration, and Teamwork)
Does the submission have a connection to Alberta (was an effort made to use our local military museums, was there mention of Alberta military units, were there links to family members who fought at Vimy Ridge)?
People’s choice award will be determined by the total number of views and likes each submission receives
Random draws will occur from October 2016 to February 2017. Only one random prize per entrant.
